The small block Chevrolet engine has components that interchange readily among different versions and displacements. One combination is to install a 350ci engine crankshaft in a 400ci engine block, which is overbored .030 inch. The 400ci bore (now 4.155 inches) and the 350 stroke (3.48 inches) yields a displacement of 377ci.It doesn’t matter if your LS is a Gen 3 or a Gen 4. It doesn’t matter if it is cast iron or aluminum. For all LS engines with the same displacement, the bore and stroke are the same. The chart below lists the stock bore and stroke measurements. On a standard deck height motor (9.025), I have heard a fraction of horror stories from guys who built a 3.875 stroke motors compared to the guys with 4 inch stroke. If going with a tall deck (9.3) The 4 inch works fine because it corrects the rod ratio.BogiesAnnex1. You can build a 400 to 420 ft pound 383 very easy. A 4 inch stroke on a 350 block requires a huge amount of metal removal rendering the block structurally unsound. Aftermarket blocks are available that will accept this that have a more spacious crankcase, raised cam bore, and a taller deck height.

I'm assuming you want a longer stroke crank for your 307. 307's have the same lenth stroke as a 327, which is 3.25", you could put in a 350 crank, with it's 3.48" stoke. I have it tagged as a 406 but the math says 408.8. Drive break repair repeat. Enough tools, parts & money can repair all but the loose nut behind the wheel. Like. Also, don't plan on off the shelf pistons for any stroke over 4.250. you can make a 598 4.600 bore 4.500 stroke in a short deck block, 582 pistons are not custom order from everything I've used.
