That Carfax report included a link to a (to me) previously unknown factory recall addressing the start/stop situation. If you don't use stop/start (aka "ESS"), you can leave the negative cable disconnected from the aux battery. I changed them in late October so they are only 4 months old right now. I never had the light come back on since I changed the batteries until now.
