Nov 9, 2010 · The XDS was the smallest and most comfortable carry but I couldn’t hit anything and the backstrap dug into the web of my hand. If you are intent on the Glock in 45 cal as a carry piece, definitely go with the G30S. That small difference in the narrower slide is huge. The G30S weighs the same as my G19. The 33 is quick where the 30 is more of a push. The 10 round mag makes a difference for me over the 9 round in control of the 30. The 30SF is fairly comfortable for me; the regular 30 not so much, but the Gen4 is ( which is supposedly the same as the SF). In my area 9 mm is in the $20 range, .40 $28-29, and ,45 just over $30.Having had a 30S, a 30 Gen 4 (basically an SF) and an XDS, I would go with the 30SF. It's a 36 slide on a 30SF frame so it's the thinner 36 slide that drops the 4oz in weight, not the frame since the frames are the same. So yes it is lighter, but for me I'm not going to rush out and sell my Gen4 30 to buy a 30S, it's not that big of a deal to me.
