Mathews have always been a little lighter but top heavy and the Z7 was no exception, but better than bows of the past. Hoyt always seems to have a better balance and general feel and they finally got the weight down. Both bows were set up vitually the same, maxed at 60 lbs and 28" draw.If you are looking at Mathews or Hoyt then buy a 2022. You could probably ask the Bowtech people, but a guess is they use IBO, which is far more "open ended" when it comes to making speed statements for any bow. Clocking Bowtech's for friends, they are fast, but not any faster lb for lb than my Hoyt's. Same for Matthews.
