Turn key and nothing happens but lights work
When I got to turn the key nothing happens. No lights no clicking no clock no nothing totally dead. It's a new battery. This is the second time it's happened within 6 months. Both times the car sat for 2 days without being driven. My mechanic says there is a short but does not have the equipment to figure it out. Any ideas? Check your fuses and look for a loose wire at the starter and the relay and at the battery. Nothing Ventured...Nothing Gained.Jul 30, 2019 · This has happened 4 times. Hit the keyfob to unlock car. Get in, put key in ignition (if door is still open I get the dinging sound that the key is in the ignition), turn key, absolutely nothing. I turned the key in the ignition and nothing happened. This is the switch you turn in the key or it could be part of it that is connected to that mechanism in the steering wheel. To troubleshoot this, turn on all your lights, try to start the car.
