The need to dry fire it to release the slide has always been part of the XD. The fact that you don't need to do it for XDm is a selling point. But in fact dry firing the XD for disassembly will not harm the gun at all. XDs was developed starting with the XDm design. So it also does not require pulling the trigger to release the slide.Looking forward to a low IWB for the Mod.2 so I can get a more accurate comparison. I trust my life with the XDs - and after time on range today and a few hundered rounds - am better with the Mod.2 - by a lot - even though I can unload the magazine on XDs all center mass - the Mod.2 is tighter, in my hands, and almost mocks the XDs.
